Construction Methods

Built To
One Standard.

Every Align project starts with a construction choice — inset, frameless, or face frame. Different feel, different price, same level of build. We’ll walk you through which one fits the space.

Custom flush inset construction
Custom · Flush Inset

Custom Inset

Doors and drawer fronts fit flush inside the face frame — the most demanding traditional method. Built to the sixteenth, finished in our shop, and detailed like furniture.

Default:painted maple frames, doors, and drawer boxes; finished birch-ply box. Stained work follows your species selection.
Custom frameless full overlay construction
Custom · Frameless Full Overlay

Custom Frameless

No face frame — door fronts cover the entire box opening. Maximum interior space and the cleanest contemporary line. Custom-sized to the wall, built and finished here.

Default:painted maple doors and drawer boxes; finished birch-ply box. Stained work follows your species selection.
RTA face frame full overlay construction
RTA · Face Frame Full Overlay

RTA Face Frame

Face-framed boxes from a vetted RTA supplier with full-overlay doors that read clean from the room. Designed, finished, and installed by us — the most accessible way into a transformed space.

Inside the Build

The Anatomy
of the Cabinet Box.

Hover the cabinet and scroll — or drag the bar — to expand the shell through every layer of its construction. Sides to back to base, shelves and dadoes — the structural pieces that build the box before the face frame, doors, and hardware ever go on. The sequence is the same one we run on the bench.

A walk through the cabinet shell — layer by layer, from sides to shelves.

Built To Hold

Every joint is glued into pre-cut grooves, clamped while the glue cures, and then locked tight with screws — a glue-and-mechanical bond that doesn’t loosen up. Most builds also get a solid ¾″ ply back for extra rigidity, particularly on heavier or taller cabinets; we leave it off when the build doesn’t need the weight.

Wood Species

The Wood
Behind the Build.

The grain you choose shapes the room as much as the color does. We work with hardwoods sourced through our regional mill partners — some hold a stain beautifully, others want to be seen natural. The species we build with most:

Hardware Selection

Interior & Exterior
Hardware, Tiered.

Soft-close hinges, full-extension slides, and trash, knife, spice, and tray pull-outs come standard. Beyond the standard, hardware is selected by tier — from solid workhorse to heritage-grade interior fittings, plus an exterior pulls-and-knobs library you choose from at the design table.

Interior Hardware · By Tier

Hinges, Slides,
and Pull-Outs.

Soft-close on every cabinet, regardless of tier. The tier you pick determines the hardware brand, the load rating, and the warranty — and how the drawer feels every time you pull it.

Standard Soft-close glides & hinges. Solid daily-use hardware that earns its keep.
Premium Heavier-duty undermount slides, smoother pulls, longer warranties.
Heritage Top-shelf European hardware — whisper close, lifetime guarantees.
